IS THE DOCTOR IN?
The Essex office is open regularly Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and on Saturday from 8:30 am to noon. The Old Saybrook office is regularly open from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday - Friday. (The Old Saybrook office hours may vary with staff vacation time.) Routine questions and non-urgent problems are best handled during these regular hours. In order to limit a family's waiting time in the office, children are seen only by appointment. Of course, emergencies are "fit-in" to be seen immediately.
Ped-I-Care, our extended hours program for urgent problems, operates from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday to Friday evenings, and from noon to 8:00 pm on weekends and holidays. Ped-I-Care hours are available at the Essex office (only).
Urgent problems are any injury, illness, or other acute medical conditions that require quick attention. These include suspected fractures, cuts requiring stitches, earaches, sore throats, breathing problems, and so on. Note that our medical center's facilities include x-ray, laboratory, and a minor surgery room. Routine physical examinations, ongoing care, or follow-up of chronic medical problems, suture removal, counseling, and other non-urgent problems, as well as business or administrative questions, are best handled during the regular, weekday daytime hours. As in regular office hours, during Ped-I-Care's extended hours, we see patients by appointment. Appointments are strongly encouraged for all office services - even those that are "urgent" - so call ahead! |
