COVID-19

3.13.2020

Due to the large volume of calls about COVID-19 if you have general questions about COVID-19 and your children are well please refer to the links below. If you have concerns about adults please contact your adult health care provider. We do not have COVID-19 testing available in our office.

When you call our office about a sick child to discuss concerns or make an appointment related to fever and cough our office staff will be asking some triage questions. These will include questions about foreign travel for the child or exposure to someone who has traveled outside of the US within the past month or exposure to anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19. If the child has had a possible exposure to COVID-19, either by travel or exposure to someone who has traveled/has COVID-19, you will be asked to speak with our nurse or provider (doctor or APRN) to assess the exposure risk and determine further action.

What can you do to protect your family?

1. Good handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use of an antibacterial hand sanitizer.

2. Cough etiquette: coughing into your sleeve, use tissues, wash your hands.

3. Stay home if you are ill with fever and keep the children home if they are ill.

4. Be sure your family members have received the flu vaccine to help decrease the burden on emergency rooms.

5. Call us if you have questions or concerns about illness in general.

6. If planning travel outside of the US check the CDC website about travel advisories.

7. DO NOT PANIC!!

This situation with COVID-19 is evolving and recommendations for triage, management and prevention may change as more is learned about the virus. We refer you to the resources below for further information.
