Lacerations & Fractures

With our minor surgery and trauma room, Wildwood Pediatrics is able to evaluate injuries and repair lacerations – either with the newer Dermabond (“superglue”) technique or with the more traditional sutures (stitches) – at any time, day or night. Not only is the environment more familiar and non-threatening than a hospital emergency room, but the wait is usually much shorter.

Major trauma and serious fractures are referred whenever appropriate. However, many simple fractures (collar bones, toes, fingers, buckle radius fractures, etc.) are straightforwardly treated in the office. Fortunately, most insurance policies cover these services when done in the office setting. By evaluating all injuries, we can not only make and authorize appropriate referrals when necessary, but can actually save many patients the time burden and expense of unnecessary (or uncovered) x-rays or emergency room visits.
