Building Resilience in Children

There has been a growing concern in pediatrics that children, and their families, experience more stress then in previous generations. The American Academy of Pediatrics has made the issue of "toxic stress" in a child's life a central part of their mandate, and is currently working on proper ways of tackling this issue. Betsy teaches nurse practitioner students in our office and is a lecturer at the Yale School of Nursing. She is also on numerous town boards in Old Saybrook and Old Lyme. This article by Betsy appeared in a recent Old Saybrook Early Education Council publication.
