How Wildwood Pediatrics Continues to Adapt to COVID-19

1.6.2021

This is an updated version of our original news articles that was on our website from the begining of this pandemic.

WWP is adapting daily and taking all necessary precautions for continued care and assurance of our patients, their families and staff.   It is important to note that there is no COVID-19 testing in our office as of this time.

Please note the following regarding appointments:

1.  There will no ill visits related to COVID-19 in our offices during our regularly scheduled morning and afternoon appointments.   Well visits, Newborn and Lactation Nurse appointments, consults and same day appointments (that are not concerning for COVID-19) will be seen in the Essex and Old Saybrook office throughout the day.

2.  Any ill visit possibly related to COVID-19 will be seen first by telemedicine, unless the patient has a recent COVID-19 test that is negative, or they are under 3 years of age and meet certain well established critieria to ensure the safety of our staff and other patients.  Any ill visit that we deem necessary to be seen in the office will be seen during our evening hours, Ped*I*care.

3.  For office visits, we require that you have only one parent/guardian with the child and make every effort to bring just the patient for the visit (and not siblings).  This is to decrease the potential infectious risk to others.

4.  The only exception to this rule will be for parents of infants one month of age or less.

5.  We require that all families and children two years of age and older wear a face mask at all times while in the office.

6.  We are asking that once you arrive to the office parking lot for your appointment, that you remain in your car and call into the office for further instruction (Essex 860-767-0168; Old Saybrook 860-388-4545).  You will be asked by phone screening questions to assist us in determining any infectious risk.  Upon entering the office a temperature will be taken of everyone entering the building.  If there is a fever within a member your party then you will be asked to reshedule your appointment or convert that appointment to a telemedicine appointment, if appropriate.  The only exception is during our Pedicare hours (see below, two paragraphs).

We continually check for updates from the CDC, state medical authorities, the Amercian Academy of Pediatrics and Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital

Doctors and Managers are now meeting regularly to review any changes/updates.

The Doctors have suspended their morning rounds to the hospital, until further notice.

Staff will disinfect the entire exam room after each visit.

Please refer to our "COVID-19" news article for further information and important links.

Again, we are making every effort to ensure the health of our patients, their families and our staff while still being available to the community.  We are confidant that being prudent in our approach is the correct path for continued healthiness.  (Please remember that we are open every day of the year except Thanksgivng and Christmas.)

Thank you for your understanding and patience.
