National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month with the theme: "Don't Wait, Communicate, Make YourEmergency Plan Today!!" There are many ways you can prepare for emergencies.

1.Make an emergency family plan

-Where will you meet in case of a fire and you have to evacuate your house?

-How will you contact family members if they are at work, school, shopping, etc?

-Who will you contact out of state if you cannot reach family members in state due to downed phone lines or cell towers?

2.Prepare a go bag or supply kit:

-Include water for each family member for 3 days minimum, and don't forget your pets!

-Have food available to feed the family for 3 days (canned foods, cheese and cracker snacks, dried fruits, etc). Remember a can opener!

-Have extra medications

-Have a radio and flashlights with extra batteries

These are just a few ways you can prepare for emergencies. Learn more by going to
