Ebola Virus

11.20.2014

In brief, Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) has grabbed the attention of our nation over the last months.  Due to the high risk of death from this virus the concern is understandable and appropriate.  Through the diligent work of the WHO, CDC and other public health institutions, as well as the fact that the virus is very hard to catch, the risk to our area (and our nation) is extremely low.  The risk is not zero though, so at Wildwood Pediatrics we have worked with our state and local health officials, and our staff to best prepare ourselves to properly triage a suspected case of EVD.

If your child is ill with a fever, and they have either traveled to Africa or had contact with an indivudual suspected to have EVD in the last 21 days please call our office so that we can best direct you to the proper hospital for medical evaluation.  Due to public health concerns, under these specific conditions we ask that you call the office before leaving your home.
